X264 Encoding When Complete Can I Use A Harware Standalone PLayer?

My understanding after finishing the X264 encoding of the video and audio file it should normally be played on software players like Videolan VLC media player or Media Player Classic.

Can the X264 encoded file be also played on a hardware player something like an AVI, XviD player connected to a HD TV?

AFAIK there is no standalone player capable of playing MPEG4 AVC content. A HTPC will do the job wonderfully though
