I have been using Paint.Net as my graphics program. It is free and there are many users that have made quality plug-ins for the program. There are also some awesome tutorials from the members. I am new to graphics but have been able to make some really cool stuff.

Please don't leave out Terragen, I have been having a blast with it ...

LOL katz, but this is serious business! We're talking about fractals! LMAO
Fractal Explorer
Fractint
MBF Lite
And announcing the Apophysis-j for Macs and Linux ...
I have not used Fractint, but FE and MBF are relatively easy to maneuver around in.
Ah yes, GIMP.
Great free program if I could just figure half of it out!![]()
I tried to figure out GIMP. Had a great teacher too, and I was still clueless! That's how I found Apophysis. Go figure
I know how to do about a half dozen things with GIMP. I followed some tutorials online which just made things more confusing for me.
I am still learning PS. I can't do much, but I get by. Still can't figure out how to put a frame on my fractals ...![]()
Back in the early 90s I had some fun messing with PovRay. A Ray Trace generator thingy. Some people created some cool art with it that you may still be able to find as desktop wallpaper. The software is still out there:
