    codec 4.12 problems

I am using Win XP, I have no problem watching .avi/.divx files that need codec 3.11. If I need 4.12 to view a file my computer will freeze. It may run for a few min. or 10 to 15 min. but it will freeze eventually. I tried 5 and 5.2 without any better results. I use WMP8 and WinDVD. They both freeze in the same manner. I have changed my video card drivers, my motherboard AGP drivers without any change. I would like to hear if anyone has had the same problem I have had, and if they found any solution to this problem.

    Thanks

pretty mich sounds like you encountered a frozen frame, i.e. the videostream is damaged, audio plays on.

does your audio keep on playing?

Try getting the newest drivers for your motherboard/chipset.

If this does'nt help I would suspect your ram to be faulty, if possible try taking out all but one block, and swap them around.
Donate your idle CPU time for something usefull.

Thanks for the quick replies. First off when I get a freeze it is a hard crash, nothing to do but reboot. Second I have changed the drivers to the latest I can get and changed ram. No change made any difference.

        Thanks
