MPAA Sets Up Fake Site to Catch Pirates

"Media Defender, a company which does the dirty work for the MPAA, has been caught setting up 'dummy' websites in an attempt to catch those who download copyrighted videos. The site, MiiVi.com, complete with a user registration, forum, and "family filter", offered complete downloads of movies and "fast and easy video downloading all in one great site."

I don't see how they can do that legally.Sony got in trouble for putting in root kits with out people knowing.And how can it be all right for them to offer illegal stuff for download to catch people.Wouldn't that be entrapment ?

A Whois search indicates that the site is owned by MediaDefender, a company that specializes in anti-piracy solutions. The application is actually spyware and scans the hard drive for copyrighted content and then reports back to MediaDefender.
