problems with the software

Hello you.
I new in this forum, and hope that you can help me.
I ty to create DVD with the software without any special things. just add file (in avi format) and press 'create dvd' button. the problem is that in the stage of 'author dvd' I get an error that say 'an error ocurred during the encoding process. 1 from authordvd: dvd was nor authored' and then the process is stoped, but the files are created in the folder i asked to (I dont ask to burn). what this mesage mean? what can I do?

It happend in all the avi that I try.
I forget to say that I edit them first in movie maker, saved them in avi format and then try to cinvert with dvd flick.
can it be the reason to the problem? but if yes' how can I edit the movie before the conversion?

I usually convert all avi's, adjusting the size with custom settings in dvd flick

then I edit and reauthor the dvd mpeg's

About the editing

I just cut amd paste some files to one movie, or cut some seconds from the begin\middle\end of the file. and olso add headline to the movie.
it look to me very simple editing, dosent it?
