        nice shot

maybe smoothing the background a little more would be a nice try?

            yes, ps cs3 was used

            - main layer was duplicated

            - next i used the easy way to extract your flower/main object from the duplicated layer: => filter => extract (or alt + ctrl +x)

            - now i had the yellow flower extracted and duplicated the flower once more and used layer blending to make it a bit more intense

            - finally i "blurred" the background with another filter => lens blur

Scroll down this site and search for "lens blur" in order to see a video tutorial

              Table-top volcano

i've had this idea of a candle spraying sparks for quite some time now and tonite i turned the idea into a photo.

c.f. picture 1-4 following the final photo for a how-to:

              pic.1
i used an ordinary candle for this picture, which had been burned down inside for more than 1/3 of its height.

              pic2
next i made a couple of test shots in order to determine a decent exposure, while a friend hold the sparklers.
i came up with 4 seconds exposure time, f:32, iso 200 and 55mm focal length and a polarizer in order to lengthen the exposure time some more

              pic3
this final shot has been photoshopped quite a bit afterwards:
healing the spots on the candle, merging two layers to have a darker background and more intense sparks flying around and adding a photoframe

              pic4
              behind the scenes

Shot this on the patio with an old Kodak digital, but the light was right for this little spider.

I am going to run out and get PS ASAP! I loved the flower to begin with, BR7's photo was beautiful. But to see it with the blurring is amazing! You guys did a great job!

                      @ alien bay

those are nice colours in your spiderweb!

do you mind if a edited your picture in ps a bit, as i'd like to see how it looks with darker background and slightly sharpened spider web?

                      @ kabuchan

lovely fellow your daughter picked for a pet

concerning ps: it is really amazing what you can do with image editing.
i find out new aspects every other day when i look a little bit closer.

I love PS The thing is I don't get to play with it to much.Reason being is because of dial up it takes a year and a day to load some of the worth while tutorials out there.I was hoping to get DSL last year but I was unable to because unforeseeable things kept popping up.But I am hoping to get it some time before Christmas (knock on wood).Dishnetwork has a fairly good deal .By the way UncasMS nice work on the candle

Not at all. I like what you did. I have Photo Shop Elements but don't do a whole lot with it.

                                ...has finally come.

i normally don't like getting up early on a sunday morning but today the weather was too tempting.
