    Problems with Asian Characters

I've tried out PRC Simplified Chinese and Japanese but I either get a bunch of ?????? questions marks or dots, question marks and incorrect characters. Why doesn't this work for me?

You must change your Windows' regional and language settings to use that language before loading the subtitles.

Whenever I try to configure SSA subtitles to font/script:Chinese_GB2321... It just goes back to "Occidental" automatically, & displays gobbledygook "Chinese" in the s-t table and "οΏδ εοΌεεοΌ" etc. in the text bar, even though the Chinese in the .txt or .srt files is correct (and in UTF8).
Even when I select "Convert from -> UTF8", it just converts to "???,??!"
