    Stats:

For the week ending 8th November 2014, here are the stats:

    Percentage of revenue:
    Blu-ray vs DVD: 35.47% vs 64.53%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $45.68 million
DVD sales total spending: $83.10 million

    These stats available from here:

    Home Media Magazine

    Top 10:

A Disney A-lister topped the charts this week and helped Blu-ray weekly market share and revenue to rise, with both at their highest since April.

Disney's Maleficent was easily the week's top seller, outselling the number two, and also new release, 2014's Hercules by more than a 3-to-1 margin.

Not too far behind 'Hercules' in third place was another Disney release, Planes: Fire & Rescue.

That's the top 3 all being new releases. Technically, 4th placed also should belong to a new release, or rather, a re-release. The newly released extended edition of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug helped the title to climb back into the top 10.

All the way back in 10th place was another new release, at least new to Blu-ray - Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: 50th Anniversary.

A couple of new releases failed to make the top 10. A Most Wanted Man was in 14th, while Step Up All In did very well on Blu-ray (well enough to be 7th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart), it only finished 16th on the Blu-ray chart.

Two more Christmas themed releases were present on the charts, with Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas/Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas just managing to sneak into the Blu-ray top 20 at 20th, while The Christmas Candle did very poorly on Blu-ray to miss out.

So the roller-coaster ride continues, and it's another high for Blu-ray thanks to another A-list release.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
    1. Maleficent
    2. Hercules
    3. Planes: Fire & Rescue
    4. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
    5. X-Men: Days of Future Past
    6. Transformers: Age of Extinction
    7. Mr. Peabody & Sherman
    8. Sleeping Beauty: Diamond Edition
    9. Godzilla (2014)
    10. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: 50th Anniversary

    Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos). So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film.

As the extended version of 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' was available only on Blu-ray, this helped to push the title's BD sales share to a high of 75.48%. Surprisingly (or maybe unsurprisingly), 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: 50th Anniversary' had the next best BD sales share, despite not being a huge seller on Blu-ray - it had a BD sales share of 74.19%.

The top 3 sellers for the week, all new releases, all also managed to break through the 50% BD sales share barrier (meaning more Blu-ray copies of these films were sold than DVD-only copies), and all three were very close as well in terms of BD sales share. 'Maleficent', 'Planes: Fire & Rescue' and 'Hercules (2014)' managed 53.59%, 53.32% and 53.02% respectively.

For the rest of the new releases, 'A Most Wanted Man' managed a respectable 31%, while 'Step Up All In' got 17%. As mentioned earlier, 'The Christmas Candle' did rather poorly on Blu-ray, with a BD sales share of only 2%!

The extended version 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' was available on Blu-ray 3D, and when combined with the previously editions of the film, the BD3D sales share for the film was 10.44%. 'Hercules' managed a BD3D sales share of 5.67%. None of this week's other new releases in the top 20 were available on Blu-ray 3D.

This week's A-lister helped the week recover from last week's 'all red' status.

Blu-ray sales increased by $8.51m (up 22.9%), while DVD sales decreased by $4.93m (down 5.6%) producing $3.58 million more in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share increased from 29.69% to 35.47%.

      Stats:

For the week ending 15th November 2014, here are the stats:

      Percentage of revenue:
      Blu-ray vs DVD: 34.64% vs 65.36%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $47.90 million

      Top 10:

An animated box office hit helped Blu-ray and DVD not only keep last week's highs, but also to post a small increase on top of what were already the best results in six months.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 was the new release that contributed the most to this week's results, and it was easily the week's top seller as well, outselling 'Maleficent' by almost a three-to-one margin.

There were a few other, less popular new releases in the top 10 too. Starting in third place was Tammy, followed by Let's Be Cops in 4th place.

Jersey Boys was the next new release, in 7th.

Outside of the top 10, Batman: The Complete Television Series finished 13th and True Blood: The Complete Seventh Season ended up in 15th.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
      1. How to Train Your Dragon 2
      2. Maleficent
      3. Tammy
      4. Let's Be Cops
      5. Planes: Fire & Rescue

Of all the new releases, 'Batman: The Complete Television Series' expectedly had the best BD sales share for the week, with 72.51%.

The week's marquee release, 'How to Train Your Dragon 2', managed to go over the 50% mark with 51.67%, continuing the norm of new releases being more popular on Blu-ray than on DVD. A Blu-ray 3D version was also available, with 4.36% of sales belonging to this edition.

In terms of BD sales share, the next best was 'Jersey Boys' with 33%, followed by the 31% earned by 'True Blood: The Complete Seventh Season'. 'Tammy' got 29% and 'Let's Be Cops' managed 27%.

Despite this week's good results, it was still an 'all red' week due to this week last year's new release, 'Man of Steel' (and 'Turbo'). It's comparing two big releases, except the one from last year was bigger than the one this week.

        Percentage of revenue:
        Blu-ray vs DVD: 29.36% vs 70.64%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $37.81 million

        Top 10:

A couple of new releases, but none managed to outsell last week's number one, 'How to Train Your Dragon 2'. Because of this, Blu-ray revenue and market share fell back compared to the highs experienced in the last few weeks.

For this week's new releases, the best selling of them was 22 Jump Street, which failed to beat 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' by a small margin.

Further back in 4th placed was the next best selling new release Into the Storm. Grouped close together in 5th and 6th place were two new releases, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For and If I Stay.

Outside of the Blu-ray top 20 were a few other new release. Two Studio Ghibli new releases, The Wind Rises Princess Mononoke, were in 13th and 16th respectively.

And finally, one new release did well enough on DVD to get into the combined Blu-ray and DVD top 20. Jeff Dunham: All Over the Map finished 11th on the combined list.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
        1. How to Train Your Dragon 2
        2. 22 Jump Street
        3. Maleficent
        4. Into the Storm
        5. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For
        6. If I Stay
        7. Planes: Fire & Rescue
        8. Tammy
        9. Sin City 2-Pack (Walmart exclusive)
        10. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Of this week's new releases mentioned above, the new on Blu-ray 'Princess Mononoke' managed 98.88%, meaning virtually all sales for this title were on Blu-ray (the DVD version was first released in 2000).

For the other Studio Ghibli release, 'The Wind Rises' didn't do as well, but still managed a BD sales share of 69.72%.

For this week's biggest new release, '22 Jump Street' managed 48.08%, while 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For', which was only available in one Blu-ray package that also contained the Blu-ray 3D version of the film, managed 42.18%. 'Into the Storm' got 37.49%.

Another 'all red week' as you can see below, as '22 Jump Street' could not compete with 'Planes' from this week last year.

          Stats:

For the week ending 29th November 2014, here are the stats:

          Percentage of revenue:
          Blu-ray vs DVD: 31.36% vs 68.64%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $103.42 million
DVD sales total spending: $226.35 million

          These stats available from here:

          Home Media Magazine

          Top 10:

It's Black Friday week again, and we have some interesting, maybe slightly alarming results. First up though, let's get through the usually limited new releases we have this week, which consists only of The Expendables 3, which finished 5th on the Blu-ray sales charts.

A Madea Christmas made the combined Blu-ray and DVD top 20, coming in at 13th, but did not rank in the Blu-ray top 20.

It's the custom to compare this year's BF sales results with that from previous years, and the trend has always been pretty predictable - Blu-ray sales up, DVD sales down. Will this year be any different?

Well, this is where things start to look somewhat worrying for Blu-ray, and for discs in general.

BF 2013 recorded the following results (readjusted due to changes in calculation method for accuracy): $253.47 million for DVDs, and $119.15 million for Blu-ray. This year's results? $226.35 million for DVDs, and $103.42 million for Blu-ray. That's $27.12 million less for DVDs (down 10.7%, and fairly in-line with the trend from previous years), but it's the $15.73 less for Blu-ray (down 13.2%) that's fairly worrying.

You see, Blu-ray revenue was up in BF 2013 from BF 2012 by more than $9 million, and BF 2012 was a $21 million improvement over BF 2011. But it appears the trend has reversed now, and while individual releases do have a big say on weekly revenue, this is still a disturbing new precedent. Is the Blu-ray honeymoon over?

With total disc revenue falling by $42.85, it doesn't paint a good looking picture for discs in general (total disc revenue fell by $17 million from BF 12 to BF 13). A lot of that would have gone to digital sales, including sell-through and especially subscription on demand.

As for the top 10, it consists of some of the recent big releases, as well as some of this year's big titles (well, the ones that have gone on sale, anyway).

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
          1. How to Train Your Dragon 2
          2. Maleficent
          3. The Lego Movie
          4. Transformers: Age of Extinction
          5. The Expendables 3
          6. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
          7. Lone Survivor
          8. Divergent
          9. Godzilla (2014)
          10. Gravity

'The Expendables 3' managed 44.71%, while 'A Madea Christmas' had 12%.

The worry for Blu-ray does not stop at just raw revenue, but BD sales share appears to have dropped too from the last BF to this one, although the drop was minor (from 31.89% to 31.36%).

            Top 10:

Amazingly, Blu-ray and DVD market share remained practically unchanged from last week, but of course with Black Friday giving way to the lesser Cyber Monday, Blu-ray and DVD revenue both fell sharply when compared.

With that said, Blu-ray revenue was still at a relative high for the year, above the $60 million level. It was helped by the new release of an A-list title in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which was easily the top selling title for the week on both Blu-ray and DVD. In fact on Blu-ray, the second most popular title was the Walmart Blu-ray exclusive 'Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2-Pack'.

Otherwise, it was a pretty quiet week, with the only other new release in the top 20 being The Hundred-Foot Journey.

After all that analysis/comparison last week, I'll keep this week short, as there's really nothing much to say about the week's results. Look for my year-on-year comparison article/blog post soon (I know I've promised this before, but definitely this time) for a more detailed analysis of the sales trend.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
            1. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
            2. * Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2-Pack
            3. The Expendables 3
            4. How to Train Your Dragon 2
            5. Maleficent
            6. X-Men: Days of Future Past
            7. Frozen
            8. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
            9. Transformers: Age of Extinction

For this week's big release 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes', it managed a BD sales share of 47.42% not including the Walmart Blu-ray exclusive 2-movie pack (BD sales share was 52.77% including it). The 3D version of the film managed to grab a BD3D sales share of 12.71%.

'The Hundred-Foot Journey' was much further back, with only 29%.

            DVD: $151.64 million
Another 'all red week', not surprising given last week's comparison. The biggest worry is that Blu-ray's fall was larger than DVD's fall, both in sheer amount and much bigger as a percentage. Both Blu-ray and DVD's fall seems to be influenced by the transition to digital, and so one explanation is that DVD was first to fall, being more sensitive to the move to digital, as most earlier digital offerings could not offer the kind of HD picture quality that Blu-ray could. Now that services like Netflix are not only offering decent HD, but with UHD/4K content that's superior (in resolution at least) to what you can get on any disc format, Blu-ray is starting to feel the hurt. Again, the upcoming year-on-year analysis will look at this (and it will be linked to from here once it's ready).

Blu-ray sales decreased by $15.23m (down 19.3%), while DVD sales decreased by $12.13m (down 8%) producing $27.36 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share decreased from 34.24% to 31.35%.

                Stats:

For the week ending 13th December 2014, here are the stats:

                Percentage of revenue:
                Blu-ray vs DVD: 34.89% vs 65.02%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $86.78 million
DVD sales total spending: $161.33 million

                These stats available from here:

                Home Media Magazine

                Top 10:

A huge release this week in the form of Guardians of the Galaxy, to allow weekly Blu-ray to reach the third highest for the year (and the second highest DVD revenue for the year, just behind Black Friday). 'Guardians' did so well that it managed to beat last week's number one, 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes', by more than a 10-to-1 margin.

Typically when such a high profile release is on the slate, other releases are thin on the group to avoid having to compete. As such, we only have two other new releases in the top 20 this week.

Dolphin Tale 2 was the best of the two releases, coming in a distant third. When the Game Stands Tall was the other one, coming in at 6th place.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                1. Guardians of the Galaxy
                2. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
                3. Dolphin Tale 2
                4. How to Train Your Dragon 2
                5. Maleficent
                6. When the Game Stands Tall
                7. The Expendables 3
                8. 22 Jump Street
                9. Frozen
                10. X-Men: Days of Future Past

'Guardians of the Galaxy' managed to grab a BD sales share of 62.43%, the highest of any title this week. Perhaps as the result of heavy discounting for the 3D edition of the film, the BD3D sales share for 'Guardians' was also higher than normal, at 32.63%. This means that half of the people who purchased a Blu-ray edition of the film purchased the edition containing the 3D version, and that nearly 1 in 3 copies sold contained the 3D version.

'When the Game Stands Tall' managed 34.96%. 'Dolphin Tale 2' got 26%.

                DVD: $202.93 million
'Guardians' was one of the bigger hits of 2014, but box office wise, it still couldn't best this time last year's combination of 'Despicable Me 2' and 'Fast & Furious 6', which combined to do over $600 million at the US box office (compared to 'Guardians' "measly" $332 million). This is why, despite this being one of the biggest weeks in 2014, it was still an 'all red' week.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $40.28m (down 31.7%), while DVD sales decreased by $41.6m (down 20.5%) producing $81.88 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share decreased from 38.50% to 34.89%.

                  Stats:

For the week ending 20th December 2014, here are the stats:

                  Percentage of revenue:
                  Blu-ray vs DVD: 32.49% vs 67.51%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $99.57 million
DVD sales total spending: $206.91 million

                  Top 10:

Two big new release, which combined to earn almost $300 million at the box office, helped Blu-ray revenue almost break through the $100 million mark, but still wasn't enough to help this week beat the same week from last year.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was the week's top seller, beating last week's number one, 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

In a distant third place, selling a quarter as many copies on Blu-ray as the new TMNT movie, was The Maze Runner.

And that was it in terms of new releases.

Despite these two big releases, both Blu-ray and DVD revenue was down compared to the same week last year (which had more new releases in the top 10, but none as big as these week's two).

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                  1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
                  2. Guardians of the Galaxy
                  3. The Maze Runner
                  4. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
                  5. Maleficent
                  6. How to Train Your Dragon 2
                  7. 22 Jump Street
                  8. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
                  9. Frozen
                  10. Dolphin Tale 2

The new 'TMNT' film had the best BD sales share out of the two new releases of this week, with 54.18%. 'The Maze Runner' did okay, perhaps slightly below average, with 41.68%. 'TMNT' was also available on Blu-ray 3D, with a BD3D sales share of 4.73%.

The one bright spot was that this week's weekly BD sales share was slightly higher than the same week last year's, thus avoiding another dreaded 'all red' week.

                    Stats:

For the week ending 27th December 2014, here are the stats:

                    Percentage of revenue:
                    Blu-ray vs DVD: 30.71% vs 69.29%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $80.77 million

                    Top 10:

No new releases this week as the Christmas sales rush means that any new releases will have most likely been drowned out by the rush for bargains.

As a result, this week's top 10 consists of recent big releases, and some of the year's most notable titles, including 'Frozen', 'Guardians of the Galaxy', and 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.

Comparing the same week from last year, both Blu-ray and DVD revenue was down, albeit by only a small margin. The clear trend in the second half of 2014 has been one of decline for DVD (expected) and Blu-ray (somewhat unexpected), and this week is no different.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                    1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
                    2. Guardians of the Galaxy
                    3. The Maze Runner
                    4. Maleficent
                    5. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
                    6. How to Train Your Dragon 2
                    7. 22 Jump Street
                    8. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
                    9. Frozen
                    10. X-Men: Days of Future Past

No new releases this week, so nothing to report here. Overall Blu-ray market share also posted a small drop compared to the same week last year, meaning that, at least for this week, Blu-ray's decline was going at a slightly faster pace than DVD's decline.

                      Stats:

For the week ending 3rd January 2015, here are the stats:

                      Percentage of revenue:
                      Blu-ray vs DVD: 29.47% vs 70.53%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $37.31 million
DVD sales total spending: $83.90 million

                      These stats available from here:

                      Top 10:

The first week of 2015 continues the recent trend of below average Blu-ray revenue and market share performance in what was another very quiet week in terms of new releases.

The only new release in the top 20 was The Equalizer, which to its credit, was easily the top selling title of the week (easily outselling 'Guardians of the Galaxy').

And that was it for the week really, and as you'll see below, Blu-ray revenue is again down compared to the same week last year (the first week of 2014), albeit on a very minor scale.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                      1. The Equalizer
                      2. Guardians of the Galaxy
                      3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
                      4. The Maze Runner
                      5. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
                      6. How to Train Your Dragon 2
                      7. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
                      8. The Expendables 3
                      9. Maleficent
                      10. Frozen

'The Equalizer' broke through the 50% barrier with 50.69%, and it wasn't available on Blu-ray 3D.

As with Blu-ray revenue, weekly Blu-ray market share was also lower compared to the same week last year, but also by the tiniest of margins.

Blu-ray sales total spending: $23.34 million
DVD sales total spending: $63.66 million

                        These stats available from here:

                        Home Media Magazine

                        Top 10:

A couple of new releases for this week, but none managed to topple last week's number one, 'The Equalizer'.

The best selling of the new releases on Blu-ray was No Good Deed, which only finished third.

The next new release was in 5th place, Get On Up.

Another new release, Left Behind, actually sold more copies on Blu-ray and DVD combined than both 'No Good Deed' and 'Get On Up', but it did poorly on Blu-ray and as a result, finished in 6th, narrowly behind 'Get On Up'.

Oscar favourite Boyhood was in 7th, with 9th place being occupied this week by Horns.

Outside of the top 10, we have Archer: The Complete Season Five and Black Sails: The Complete First Season in 17th and 18th respectively.

The Guest rounds off the top 20 for new releases by finishing in 20th place.

Atlas Shrugged: Part III — Who Is John Galt? sold enough copies on DVD to get into the combined Blu-ray and DVD top 20, but failed to sell enough copies on Blu-ray to get into the Blu-ray top 20.

So plenty of new releases, but without a big hit and with the holiday sales over, Blu-ray market share and revenue fell by quite a big margin compared to last week.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                        1. The Equalizer
                        2. Guardians of the Galaxy
                        3. No Good Deed
                        4. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
                        5. Get On Up
                        6. Left Behind
                        7. Boyhood
                        8. The Maze Runner
                        9. Horns
                        10. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Of the week's numerous new releases, 'Boyhood' has the best BD sales share, and was the only title that sold more on Blu-ray than on DVD, with a BD sales share of 53.21%.

The next best new release was 'Black Sails: The Complete First Season' with 39.59%. The only other new release that got into the BD sales share top 20 was 'The Guest' (at 20th), with 34.93%.

'Get On Up' came closest to breaking into the top 20, with 35%, followed by 'Horns', 'Archer: The Complete Season Five', and 'Atlas Shrugged: Part III — Who Is John Galt?' with 32%, 31% and 28% respectively. The two titles that actually sold more copies than these other this week, 'No Good Deed', 'Left Behind', only managed 27% and 18%.

None of these titles were available on Blu-ray 3D.

It's another week where Blu-ray market share was lower compared to the same week last year.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $2.56m (down 9.5%), while DVD sales decreased by $8.19m (down 11.4%) producing $10.75 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share decreased from 27.24% to 26.83%.

Blu-ray sales total spending: $24.76 million
DVD sales total spending: $65.07 million

                          Top 10:

The release of Gone Girl helped Blu-ray market share and revenue rise compared to the previous week, but not by much.

'Gone Girl' was clearly the top selling title for the week, with A Walk Among the Tombstones the next best selling new release in a distant 2nd place.

You have to then go to 9th place to find the next new release, which was The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power.

The only other new release in the top 20 was Boardwalk Empire: The Complete Fifth Season in 13th.

Blu-ray revenue is still not doing well compared to the same time last year, despite the A-list release of 'Gone Girl'.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                          1. Gone Girl
                          2. A Walk Among the Tombstones
                          3. Guardians of the Galaxy
                          4. The Equalizer
                          5. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
                          6. The Maze Runner
                          7. Boyhood
                          8. No Good Deed
                          9. The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power
                          10. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

'A Walk Among the Tombstones' had the best BD sales share out of the new releases this week, with 40.89%.

'Gone Girl' did relatively poorly for a new release, with a BD sales share of only 37.58%, which probably explains the relatively poor Blu-ray results for this week, despite the presence of a new A-list release.

                          Year on Year Comparison

The stats for the week ending 18th January 2014 are as follows. Some small adjustments to the data posted last year (based on more recent updates) has been made and is shown below.

                          DVD: $76.19 million
Yet another "all red" week, worrying becoming the norm these days. The same week last year did have 6 new releases in the top 10 though, although only one broke through the $100 million barrier ('The Butler'). More worrying is that weekly Blu-ray market share appears to be declining, or at least no longer rising, indicating that Blu-ray revenue is actually falling faster year-on-year than DVD revenue at the moment.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $5.14m (down 17.2%), while DVD sales decreased by $11.12m (down 14.6%) producing $16.26 million less in combined revenue.

Blu-ray's market share decreased from 28.18% to 27.56%.

                            Top 10:

Blu-ray weekly market share rose to the highest level so far recorded in 2015, which unfortunately isn't saying much. Blu-ray revenue also rose compared to recent weeks, thanks to a trio of new releases in the top 3.

The best performing by far was Lucy, which easily outsold the second placed The Boxtrolls. Annabelle was in third place.

The next new release was in 8th, The Drop.

'Tyler Perry's Madea's Tough Love' and 'Wolves' finished in 5th and 11th respectively on the combined Blu-ray and DVD charts, but neither were available on Blu-ray.

Despite these two DVD exclusives, Blu-ray weekly market share was up and above 30% for the first time in 2015.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):

                            10. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)

Of this week's new releases, 'Lucy' was the only one that broke through the 50% barrier, with 50.83%. 'The Boxtrolls' nearly got there, with 49.44%. 'Annabelle' had 42.95%.

'The Drop' managed to get a BD sales share of 39.70%.

                              Top 10:

Blu-ray weekly market share crept up again this week, with Blu-ray revenue also rising, compared to the previous week.

We gain have a trio of new releases occupying the top 3 spots on the Blu-ray sales chart, which helped both revenue and market share to rise.

Of the three, Fury did the best, easily outselling the second placed The Book of Life. Further back in 3rd place was The Judge.

The next new release was found in 5th place: Justice League: Throne of Atlantis did quite well Blu-ray.

Downton Abbey: Season 5 was the only other new release in the top 10, finishing in 7th place.

Before I Go to Sleep did make the combined Blu-ray and DVD sales charts, but just failed to sell enough copies on Blu-ray to make it into the Blu-ray top 20.

                                Top 10:

Blu-ray weekly market share dropped slightly this week, despite Blu-ray revenue recording a rise. This was due to better than expected DVD revenue from this week's new releases, although not from this week's top two sellers.

The top two sellers both did better than average on Blu-ray (compared to DVD sales), and were Dracula Untold and John Wick, with both titles neck and neck for the top spot, which eventually went to 'Dracula Untold'.

Valentine's Day appropriate The Best of Me was the next best selling new release, in 5th place. It is this title, along with new release Ouija in 8th place and recent release 'Gone Girl' that seems to have been responsible for this week's slight rise in DVD revenue - all three titles did better on DVD than compared to the average.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, and Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *):
                                1. Dracula Untold

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos). So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film.

As hinted at earlier, this week's top two sellers both did decently on Blu-ray. Unlike on the sales charts, 'John Wick' came out on top of 'Dracula Untold' in terms of BD sales share, with 50.08% and 49.20% respectively.

Also hinted at earlier, 'Ouija' (29%) and 'The Best of Me' (22%) didn't do as well on Blu-ray, but were big enough sellers on DVD to affect this week's overall Blu-ray market share. Similarly, 'Gone Girl' only had BD sales share of 19%, which meant that most people were stocking up on the DVD version of this film for the week.

None of these week's new releases were available on Blu-ray 3D.
