    how to demux wmv file

    hi i have a video in the wmv format and i would like to extract only the audio portion and convert it to mp3 for my cellphone .any idea on can it be done.thanks

    here are the codecs of the wmv file:

    Try VirtualdubMPEG2.
    Goldwave will also do it.
    And ofcourse Windows Media Encoder.

      How do you actually do that with Goldwave? Do you mean record it in "real time"?

        No. The OP wants the audio part of the wmv. Just open the file with GW and it will display the graph of the audio part. Now save that as mp3(you must have lame_enc.dll in the GW folder).

          Most of my use of Goldwave was for .avi files with audio that
          TMPGEnc didn't like. The nice thing is there's a batch mode.
          Once you have your settings for the audio format you want
          to save as... then you just pop up Goldwave, open the batch
          window, and drag & drop all the vids you want to extract audio
          from. Very convenient. I haven't used version 5.x so the batch
          window may have changed, but I think it's still there. You can
          still download 4.x versions from the page. If this is all you use
          Goldwave for then 4.x is all you need.
