Philips DVP 5990 divx playback spec?

I thought I saw a comparison someplace on the web between Philips DVP 642 and Philips DVP 5990, that claimed Philips DVP 5990 could play back divx files with 720 height res. I know it's not listed as an HD Divx player but does anyone happen to have any info?

I just bought this player and a clean divx/avi looks very good. Just seems a shame to have to downsize to 480 or less video height to just turn around
and upsize the output in the player!

In the meantime I'll resize some clips and do the trial and error bit.

hmmmmmm found the page about DVP 642 playback and it concerns aspect ratio distortion of divx/xvid wider than 640 pixels.. not that the other model can play files with widths greater than 720.

Oh well, at least this player does play video right off a USB pen drive. So far the only negative reaction I have is that the remote feels really flimsy.

hmmmm just found out this model will also play .wmv video files!! I guess I'd have to recommend it for those with $60 to spare!!! Best DVD player I've owned so far.

I make sure I can set a player to region 0 before I buy.

Also if it doesn't do both PAL & NTSC I see no reason to
bother with it. I watch a lot of foreign films so it's got
          to handle both formats.
