    Say NO to Cucusoft!!

To any of you thinking of using Cucusoft to convert dvd's: DON'T DO IT!!! I have struggled and fought with this converter software for two years now, and it's given me nothing but a headache! They say they have a guarantee and great on-line customer service... Forget it!! They are both non-existent. I can't count how many times I've tried to contact them, and met only silence. They WILL NOT reply to answers or requests, and their software is notorious for using every ounce of your CPU, and then locking up to the point that the only way to clear it is to re-start your computer. My advice is this: DON'T GET NEAR THEM!! There are much better converters out there, so don't even give them a chance.

Couldn't agree more - as well, they are frequent spammers here with their rubbish. It's great to see some real feedback about this piece of crap. But I'm sorry you have had to endure it.

Try SUPER (freeware) for your conversions.

    Regards
    Les

I don't know what country you're in but in England where I am, if we have problems with a product and there's no customer service department that is advertised we can contact The Trading Standards that investigate matters over all kinds of issues such as false advertising, abusing customer's rights etc. Find out who yours are and write to them. Don't phone them, write to them because everything is best in writing. If your software wasn't free and you sound ripped-off, there's a chance you can have an investigation opened to report Cucusoft where they are demanded to refund you by law and Cucusoft will have more to answer to. Let Cucusoft know who's boss. When I have a problem with a company that pushes me too far I go over their heads. Some give me hassle and when I mention The Trading Standards some start sorting things out the way I want it because they don't want The Trading Standards involved.

I totally agree with everyone, Cucusoft is a piece of crap! I spent £30 on the software after trying the trial version (it worked fine) and found the full version didn't work no matter what I did! I tried to contact them 3 times and they only answered my last email as I demanded a refund. I was then palmed off with reinstalling it etc. (which I clearly told them I had tried) and told to send them info etc on the problem (which I already did in my previous 2 emails). I then replied with a very angry email complaining about their service and lack of help etc and threatened to take further action. I am still waiting a response but if I do get one I'll make sure I'll keep everyone posted here! If I do (by some miracle) get a reply I might take dazuk1972's advice and mention the ole Trading Standards and see what they do! You don't mess with customers like that, we deserve our money back! So anyone thinking of getting it - DON'T! - CUCUSOFT SUCKS!!!!

Could'nt agree more , not only is the customer support non - existant there program does not even work for me ; It crashes with the error mesage AVI to Mpeg has stopped working.
Even if Cucusoft AVI TO DVD is working properly it is an outdated and utterly useless converter. It splits DVD's into 3 seperate parts which means there is 3 skips in your DVD, and you can't edit it out!
You can't put a menu in or split a DVD into chapters, it has no features - it's a piece of junk !

                AVIDemux is free and good!

Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD is not expensive (US$49) and can edit on a frame by frame basis.

highly recommend womble mpeg video wizard dvd, a poor marketing but powerful tool.

I like their smart rendering feature most, a great time saver.

Its much later, but i went to Super and downloaded and installed AVS Video Converter, thinking it was free. I was surprised to learn that it costs $59 US to activate it.

SIRS, IN THE PAST I COMPRESSED AND DECRYPTERED ALL THE COMMERCIAL DVD FROM ANY REGION WITH DVD SHRINK, ALSO THE FAMOUS MOVIES ENCRYPTED BY THE MAJORS, AFTER, WITH THE BURNING OR THE NERO 6, I MADE PERFECT DVDs PLAYING WITH ANY DVD PLAYER.
AT PRESENT, IN OCCASION OF A DVD REGION 1, SHRINK ANNOUNCES TO ME THAT I CANNOT CHANGE REGION AND WITH ERROR AND SO ON. WHY? THANKS A LOT IN ADVANCE FOR THE HELP. HERRMANN. SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH.

The net can be full of cowboy programmers selling products I have been the victim of that before, but it was for much more then cucsofts price.. I've used there software in the past and never had any problems but I havent used them for a long time now.

Next time I would recommend researching a product before you buy, there are plenty of forums like this one where you can get reviews.

Wish I had read this before!
I've recently paid for what I considered a good app but it doesn't work. I just can convert to DVD a few seconds of my AVI files, whatever I try.
I don't think that they sell dummy software so, if they don't satisfy their customers, their business might be damaged by talking about it in forums like this one.

P.D. Well, I've got an email today from Cucusoft, asking me for some more information about my system. Let's see...
