    making a movie from several photo camera video files

    I've just returned from a vacation trip with friends.
    Each one of us have a different digital photo camera with short video capabilities. Each camera stores video files with a different codec and a diferent format (.mov for a Kodak easy share, .avi for my Canon PS, and .mpg for a Sony). All videos have sound.
    I would like to compose a short movie bonding the short video files and burn a DVD. Also I would like to add music over the ambient sound stored and/or removing the ambient sound and replacing it with music.
    Is there a toll or a combination of tools to do this. I'm not a professional, so any tool should be freeware as I will use it only once.

      I would have used Ulead Video Studio. But that is not freeware.
      Here is a free alternative:

          search video converter in google. most video convert support "merge and convert" function.
