Spotify To Offer Offline Music Renting

Spotify, already a leader in offering free ad-supported online music streaming, is set to offer an offline equipment, for a small monthly fee.

For a fee of £10 per month, users will be able to download up to 3,333 songs to their PC, iPhone or Android phone (access on up to 3 devices are allowed) and listen to them without an Internet connection, but only as long as they keep on paying the monthly fee. In essence, it's music rental.

Once the user stops paying the monthly fee, the music files will no longer play, suggesting some kind of online DRM authentication will be in place.
