Default $49 Blu-ray Player, $99 Player With Netflix, Black Friday Sales

An NPD analyst believes that $49 Blu-ray players will be a possibility during this year's Black Friday sales. But this may only be for earlier generation players, profile 1.0 or 1.1 ones,

There is also a $99 Insignia Blu-ray player available right now that even includes Netflix streaming support, and this one uses the latest profile (2.0, BD-Live).

I'm sure there will be more bargains for branded and latest generation players as well as we get closer to Black Friday.

$49 Blu-ray !! I'm sure you're aware, black Friday always has someone selling something that looks like the store has to be losing $$ on it, but it's usually to get a buzz going and get people in the store. They generally (and Wal-Mart comes to mind) list as "while supplies last" and usually only have about 6 in stock. They're sold out in the first 5 minutes after the store opens.

BTW, Aldis (and no, I don't work there, or own stock) has a Wireless Keyboard AND Mouse combination this week for $16.99 !! The advertisement is a little mis-leading because it looks you can get one or the other for that price since it's advertised as 'each' but it is a combination of mouse AND keyboard. I just bought two of them.

Have seen our city's newspaper ads for this Thursday. Wal-mart will be offering a Magnavox Blu-ray for $78. While looking up the model (nb500mg1f), I found this article about that sale .. doesn't support streaming. read the article for more.

    Best Buy's ad lists Sony (BDPS360) for $149.99, Samsung (BDP1600) for $149.99 and Samsung (BDP4600) for $279.99.

the sony and the two samsung are worth their money - dont buy that cheap crap with half-hearted bd profiles, bad firmware support etc

i spent quite a lot more on my samsung 1600 when i bought it early this year but the money is well spent:
    - very fast bd load times
    - plays many media types from usb (recently even ntfs formated harddrives)
    - youtube
    - and most of all: very good picture quality for both bd & dvd

So I was looking around BlackFriday.info...

Best Buy is not having any cheap Blu-Ray players. They might be on sale but the cheapest one they have is still the $100 Insignia (and comes with Superman Returns).

Wal-Mart is set to have a $78 Blu-Ray player, made by Magnavox:

I don't know much about those so someone will have to figure out if it supports the latest profiles or not.

I can't find any other cheap ones at the moment, but www.blackfriday.info has most stores' published sales if anybody else wants to look around.
