DVD Flick - does the % vertical bar on the left work?

The DVD Flick tutorials indicate that the yellow vertical indicator bar on the left will turn red if too many video files are added. Does this bar really work? My blank DVD-R disks are 4.7Gb. By he time I add 4 x 200+MB mp-4 files, the the % indicator says 98%. Whether I add another another or 8 or 9 similar-sized files, the & does not show above 98% AND the bar does not turn red. What's going on here? IF the indicator shows 98%, how come the addition of some files does not change this bar into red??

Is it the case that it IS still safe to keep adding files as long as the vertical indicator bar does not turn to red, even though the % figure remains "stuck" at 98%?

    Thanxx again for any help/expertise!

It will automatically reduce the bitrate to try to fit what you put, into a DVD5. Try putting like 20 videos on and see if it goes over.
