.SRT ERROR, Failed to determine subtitle format, selected file format not supported

While I really like DivxLand media subtitler 2.08, I'm having trouble with embedding a .srt file in a .mp4 clip. GOM player opens it fine, so I know nothing is wrong with the subtitle. Specifically, the file is a TED talk, and the subtitle works perfectly otherwise. I'd appreciate any pointers

I'm not familiar with DivxLand tools. But I do know for English subs some software is sensitive to ANSI vs Unicode vs UTF-8 and UTF-16. Nothing to lose by opening the sub with Notepad. Then do Save As and see what format it shows. If it's a UTF or Unicode see if it will save as ANSI without any loss warming message. That may work.
